Avril Lavigne thinks L.A. Reid is 'the man'.

The Canadian songstress was signed by the record executive at label Arista upon entering the music industry.

She loved working with him because he was so supportive of her sound.

'L.A. Reid is the man. My experience was he signed me, he believed in me, he got me. He always gave me my freedom to be who I was, to make the type of record I wanted to. On my first album, I was so young - I was 16 when I was making it. Everyone figured that people would write songs for me, and I was like, 'No, I want to write my own music.' It was so different from anything that was out there. L.A. was like, 'She's onto something. Just let her do her thing,'' she explained in an interview with WWD. 'So it was great.'

Avril later joined RCA Records to release her third and fourth studio albums The Best Damn Thing and Goodbye Lullaby.

She recently announced her move to Epic Records, which L.A. now heads up.

Avril couldn't be happier with the newfound collaboration with the famed producer.

'Later on down the road we got separated when he moved to another record company, and other people came in and took over. It was difficult for me, especially on my last record, working with all these random people that really didn't even understand me at the record company,' she explained. 'And now I get to be back with him, and it's exciting again. I'm totally re-inspired. When you're writing and creating, you can't have these businesspeople come in and try to be all business. [L.A.] finds a balance between business and creative, and he's really good at not making it weird or interfering in the creative process.'

Avril is currently working on her fifth studio album. The star is excited for what her music future holds.

'There are a lot of major changes going on in my career,' she said. 'There's a lot of fresh energy around me.'

Russell Crowe has pitched his songbook to Canadian band Walk Off The Earth after they create a viral hit with their Gotye and Kimbra cover.

Walk Off The Earth featuring Sarah Blackwood produced and uploaded their version of the Gotye featuring Kimbra song 'Somebody That I Used To Know' and within days had more than 3 million views on YouTube.

Over the weekend Russell Crowe tweeted, 'Check out Walk Off The Earth's cover of Somebody That I Used To Know. Brilliant'.

He then pitched his own songs to the Canadian band. '@WalkOffTheEarth. A revelation. What a collection of voices. Do you write your own songs? Crowe/Doyle Songbook vol iii on i-tunes,' he added.

Gotye and Kimbra both approve of the Walk Off The Earth version. 'I know who to ask for help with acoustic versions of Somebody: Walk Off The Earth. Hilarious and brilliant,' tweeted Gotye on Saturday.

Yesterday Kimbra also commented via Facebook, 'Yes, I agree with you all, this is truly amazing. THAT's team work'.
