Ice-T: Young musicians arent positive

Ice-T thinks pop stars of today are 'delusional'.

The musician released a string of records throughout the 80s and 90s, including Rhyme Pays and Power.

He believes the newest cohort of chart-topping stars mistake what's important in life. Ice-T doesn't believe the message they are sending to fans is a positive one.

'We've created a generation of jaded youth,' he told the New York post at the Sundance Film Festival over the weekend.

'Music as a whole is delusional. If you listen to pop records right now, you'll believe everybody's rollin', poppin' bottles, life is perfect. Life is f**ked up right now! But everyone's in a bubble that it's all good. We're all floating around like, 'I'm broke, but. hey, pop a bottle, buy some Guuu-cci.' That's what's going on in music right now.'

Ice-T directed Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap, which premiered at movie event. The documentary is about the infamous rap industry.

The 53-year-old actor has joked his life is very different now.

'My son's 20, he got picked up from the hospital in a Rolls. I'm looking for a 19-year-old Public Enemy. or NWA. it's gonna take nuts,' he explained.

'I'm too old - the kids won't listen to me.'

Ice-T put his musical talents to good use at the annual event. He performed with Chuck D and Grandmaster Caz at the ASCAP Music Cafe.

Quick quips: Black Sabbath, Neil Young, Merle Haggard, Jim Reeves, Steven Tyler, Winston Riley

Quick-quips:-Black-Sabbath,-Neil-Young,-Merle-Haggard,-Jim-Reeves,-Steven-Tyler,-Winston-Riley Email this story Printable version

It seems that a cancer diagnosis is not keeping Tony Iommi from working on music for the Black Sabbath reunion. Bandmate Geezer Butler wrote on his website:

Today [January 19] we got the engines back up and running @ Tony's home studio. Far from being down and depressed about his lymphoma diagnosis, Tony had already written the music for two new songs, and I must say it has given us all a kick up the rump- it's great to hear him churning out those riffs again, assuaging the Demon C. Takes more than that to stop Tony. Can't wait for you all to hear our workings, it has been great working on this stuff.

Neil Young's LinkVolt LLC is being sued for $500,000 by Unigard Insurance over damages from a 2010 warehouse fire in San Carlos, CA. Unigard paid out to the owners of the building but allege that the fire was caused by Young's 1959 Lincoln Continental that he had converted to run on electricity and a bio-diesel powered generator.

Merle Haggard was released from the hospital on Friday after being treated for pneumonia. Doctors expect him to make a full recovery.
Haggard has postponed his remaining concert dates for January while he fully recovers.

A trial opens on Monday that will determine how the royalties for the late Jim Reeves' recordings will be split. Even though Reeves passed away almost fifty years ago, his work still generates $400,000 per year and Terry Davis, who married the singers widow, feels that he should receive part of them. Davis was married to Mary Reeves for thirty years until her death in 1999.
For the second year in a row, CMT will present a special edition of their long running Crossroads series during the festivities for the Super Bowl. Last year it was Faith Hill and the Pretenders and, this year, on February 4, it will be Steven Tyler and Carrie Underwood.
The two previously performed together at last year's ACM Awards.

Jamaican reggae pioneer Winston Riley passed away on Thursday from gunshot wounds to the head he received in November. He was 65.
Riley had been the target of a number of unexplained attacks in 2011, including being shot in August and stabbed in September.

Riley was a founder of the Techniques while still a teenager and was still adapting and having hits into the 80's. He was also credited with introducing reggae to England.

Neil Young completes Crazy Horse album

Neil-Young-completes-Crazy-Horse-album Email this story Printable version

Neil Young has completed work on a brand new album with Crazy Horse, their first album since 2003's 'Greendale'.

Neil Young news site thrasherswheat.org reports that not only has one Crazy Horse album been completed but they are also working on another one.

Young broke the news on Sunday during a master class at the Slamdance Festival where he spoke with film-maker Jonathan Demme about their film together 'Journeys'.

Demme also directed Neil's 'Heart Of Gold' (2006) and the still unreleased 'Neil Young Trunk Show' (2009). Neil also won a Grammy Award for his song 'Philadelphia' from Demme's 1993 movie of the same name.

The origins of Crazy Horse go back to 1963 when Danny Whitten formed Danny & The Memories with Billy Talbot and Ralph Molina. In 1968 they connected with Neil Young around the time Buffalo Springfield had dissolved. Young recruited The Rockets as his backing band for a show at the Whisky A Go Go and then enlisted them to record his second album 'Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere' (1969). The finished album was credited as Neil Young with Crazy Horse.

Crazy Horse and Young have always had 'an open relationship'. Young jumped from Crazy Horse to Crosby, Still, Nash & Young, to solo and back again during his entire career. Young's Crazy Horse albums have come at random times in the past 43 years.

With Crazy Horse he recorded 'Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere' (1969), parts of 'After The Goldrush' (1970), parts of 'Tonight's The Night' (1975), 'Zuma' (1975), 'American Stars 'n Bars' (1977), parts of 'Comes A Time' (1978), one side of 'Rust Never Sleeps' (1979), 'Live Rust' (1979), 'Re-ac-tor' (1981), parts of 'Trans' (1982), 'Life' (1987), 'Ragged Glory' (1990), 'Weld' and 'Arc' (1991), 'Sleeps With Angels' (1994), 'Broken Arrow' (1996), 'Year Of The Horse' (1997), one song off 'Are You Passionate' (2002), 'Greendale' (2003) and the 1970 recorded 2006 released 'Live at the Fillmore East' (2006).

Strength comes from our bones ' the knowledge that, deep down, nothing is impossible.

'Bones', the stunning new single, and album of the same name, from Young Guns, captures exactly that: it's a hymn to bravery and boldness, the defining statement so far from one of our finest bands.

'Bones' picks up perfectly where lead single, 'Learn My Lesson', left off ' with it's instant anthemnic quality and most importantly, serves as further proof that Young Guns could well be on the cusp of something very special.

The band, who recently announced a run of small intimate shows to mark the release, a tour they aptly labeled the Bare Bones Club Tour, will also tour the UK with Enter Shikari in March.
