Metallica's big announcement has been made, the creation of their own Orion Music + More Festival. The first festival will take place in Atlantic City, New Jersey on June 23 and 24.

The initial line-up with Metallica is Arctic Monkeys, Avenged Sevenfold, Modest Mouse, The Gaslight Anthem, Cage The Elephant, Fucked Up, Best Coast, Hot Snakes, Titus Andronicus, Gary Clark Jr., Lucero, Roky Erickson, The Black Angels, The Sword, Liturgy, and more to be announced in the coming weeks.

'We've had the idea of doing our own lifestyle festival with lots of diverse music and fun and games for years,' said Lars Ulrich. 'Finally this year all the practical ducks lined up in a row, and we are beyond psyched to bring Orion to our fans, friends and the curious. After the most incredible of weeks ever in December 2011 celebrating our 30th anniversary at the Fillmore in San Francisco, CA, bringing the spirit of that week, the looseness of that week, the possibilities of that week, the fan interactive elements of that week, and the (fill in your own blank here) of that week to a festival setting is so exciting we can hardly contain ourselves.'

Katzenjammer-announce-London-dates Email this story Printable version

We're thrilled to announce the first UK live dates of 2012 for Norwegian sensations 'Katzenjammer'.

Following their extensive European touring and sell-out UK shows at the Water Rats and then Dingwalls late last year, the 'Team Me' labelmates will be performing at HMV's Next Big Thing on Monday 6th Feb at the Borderline and on the 22nd March at the Scala.

If you're unfamiliar with them, they're "a four-piece, all-girl outfit of multi-instrumentalists that perform swinging, singing, cowboy-inspired fairground burlesque with all-out riotous, folk, pop & gypsy punk".

They look and sound a bit like this www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHcklZEi1kk

Katzenjammer's debut UK album 'A Kiss Before You Go' will be released this May and first single 'I Will Dance (When I Walk Away) is out in March.

Guns-N-Roses-announce-first-2012-shows Email this story Printable version

There will be some Guns N' Roses activity this year but so far only in Europe.

Two dates have been announced for May, one for Ireland and one for Italy.

Guns N' Roses are locked in to play Dublin's O2 Arena on May 17 and the Gods of Metal festival in Italy on May 22.

Guns N' Roses will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April but at this stage there has been no confirmation of a performance or if the original members will actually all stand on stage together to collect the award.

Axl Rose has been in the studio working on a new Guns N' Roses album. However, considering the last one 'Chinese Democracy' took 12 years to release, don't hold your breath waiting for a follow-up.

Chuck D of rap instigators Public Enemy has promised two new albums in 2012.

Chuck told Billboard that the legendary political hip-hop act will release an album titled Most Of My Heroes Still Don't Appear On No Stamp (referencing a line from 'Fight The Power' from 1990's classic Fear Of A Black Planet's) in June and then The Evil Empire Of Everything in September.

He confirmed that Bomb Squad member Gary G-Wiz will be working on the first album. Chuck described the albums as 'two concise statements that are connected in the same breath.'

He first spoke about Most Of My Heroes. in mid-2011, saying 'We have never been in the music business to make friends. We've never been the type to kiss ass. We've always strived not to repeat ourselves album to album.'

The two albums will be the first Public Enemy releases since 2007's widely-ignored but critically well-received How Do You Sell Soul To Soulless People Who Sold Their Soul?
