The funniest night of the decade has been set for Sunday 4th March with the announcement today of the return of Amnesty International's Secret Policeman's Ball.

Multi award-winners Coldplay, The Daily Show's Jon Stewart, and comedian and actor Russell Brand will be joined by a stellar cast of fellow stars from the world of entertainment to commemorate 50 years of Amnesty International at New York's Radio City Music Hall. It's the first time the Ball has been held outside of the UK.

Since John Cleese and friends brought together a star-studded mix of comedians and rock stars for The Secret Policeman's Ball in 1976, the legendary Amnesty International show has championed the right to free speech for people across the world. The New York gala event will also feature UK act Mumford & Sons, along with US stars Stephen Colbert, and Reggie Watts, joined by a host of others to help spread Amnesty International's message to a global audience.

John Cleese, one of the pioneers behind the original Secret Policeman's Balls, said: "I used to think humour was a luxury, but at the last election Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert taught me it was a necessity. The Secret Policeman's Ball was - and is - a coming together of the very best comedy talent of any generation to celebrate their art, remind audiences how important free speech is, and highlight just how much vital work Amnesty International does to protect it. I implore you to support it.'
Chris Martin of Coldplay, said: "We are so happy to be involved with the 2012 Secret Policeman's Ball. We have followed and supported Amnesty International - and the amazing work they do around the world in the field of human rights ' for years, and it is a pleasure to be asked to contribute to such an inspiring event."

A supporting online campaign at facebook.com/secretpoliceman will reveal further stars of the show in the coming weeks. Top UK comedians Alexander Armstrong and Ben Miller have voiced new animations created for the campaign by leading French artist, McBess.

An audience of more than 6,000 people will gather at Radio City Music Hall to experience a one-off night of original performances, first time collaborations, unique comedy sketches and stand-up from the funniest men and women on both sides of the Atlantic.

Previous Secret Policeman's Balls have featured some of British comedy's most iconic sketches including Monty Python's 'Four Yorkshiremen' and the famous 'Dead Parrot', Peter Cook's 'Biased Judge' and the then unknown Rowan Atkinson's 'School Master'. The 2012 Ball will create new classic moments of its own with three hours of new material specially written for the landmark event.

Rihanna and Coldplay are performing together at the Grammy Awards.

The Barbados-born singer has confirmed she will be taking to the stage with the British rockers at the ceremony, which is being held on February 12.

Rihanna announced the news on Twitter and seemed thrilled about the plan.

'My friends @ColdPlay and I will be sharing the stage for a performance at this years Annual Grammy Awards! #BONKERS (sic),' she wrote.

It's thought Rihanna and Coldplay will perform their duet Princess of China, which is featured on the band's record Mylo Xyloto.

Lead singer of the group Chris Martin has previously spoken of his excitement about working with Rihanna.

'In like a dream scenario, we had a song that I'd secretly kind of written to see if Rihanna would want to sing it. And then the rest of the band wanted to keep it, so we came up with the idea of asking her to sing it with us, and, to our great surprise, she said OK,' he explained.

'Well, her bit on our record is my favourite bit. When the song came out, it sort of asked for her to be on it.'

It's thought the band and singer will also take to the stage at the BRIT Awards later in February.

LL Cool J has been announced as the host of the Grammy Awards, with Kelly Clarkson, Bruno Mars, Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift all set to perform.

Coldplay - Paradise

Paradise" is a song by British alternative rock band Coldplay. The song was released on 12 September 2011 as the second single from their fifth studio album, Mylo Xyloto. The song received its radio debut at 7:50am on The Chris Moyles Show (BBC Radio 1) on 12 September 2011. According to Coldplay's official website, the single was not initially chart eligible in the United Kingdom, because it was available on iTunes as an "instant grat" (immediate download) when pre-ordering the album.[5] Following the release of the album on 30 October 2011, the song became chart eligible in the UK and entered the UK Singles Chart at number 14. To date it has peaked at number 2 on the UK Singles Chart. It has been met with positive reception from critics. On November 30, the song was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category, Best Pop/Duo Group Performance. The winner will be announced on February 12, 2012 at the 54th Grammy Awards.

Following release on 12 September 2011, "Paradise" was revealed chart ineligible in the United Kingdom, having been offered as an "instant grat" (immediate download) for anyone who pre-ordered the album, Mylo Xyloto. The release of the album on 24 October 2011 saw "Paradise" debut at number fourteen on the UK Singles Chart with sales of 27,277 copies; having sold 118,547 copies in the six weeks of chart ineligibility.

It climbed up the chart to #7 on December 11, 2011. It was also a top 20 hit in many countries in Europe. In the US, it reached #15 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Coldplay initially announced that the single's music video would be directed by Hype Williams (who previously directed the first version of the "Viva la Vida" music video) but that version was scrapped after shooting and the band decided instead to record a new version directed by long-time collaborator Mat Whitecross. The band called Mat just a day before the shooting and the video's concept was finished just hours before the director traveled from London to South Africa. The band's frontman Chris Martin created the video's concept storyline. The unicycle and elephants suits had to be found in hurry. The suits had to be as lo-fi and spontaneous as possible.[8] The video was released on 19 October 2011. In the video, a man dressed as an elephant (played by Chris Martin) escapes from a zoo in London and attempts to hitch-hike his way to another country (doing so finally by stowing away inside a suitcase). An aerial shot reveals that his initial destination was Cape Town, South Africa. He is then seen wandering around Johannesburg, at one point, walking past Nelson Mandela Bridge and a set of railway tracks in Braamfontein. He then earns enough money (which appears to be ZAR 67.05, roughly equivalent to USD 8.40) for a unicycle by busking on the street, and after a seemingly hopeless wander comes across three other elephants (the rest of Coldplay) playing the song in the veld (South African grasslands). The video shifts to the band playing a live show at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg before returning to the desert where they run towards the camera. The music video was shot on location in London, Cape Town, the Klein Karoo in the Western Cape and Johannesburg.
