Judas Priest guitarist KK Downing has plans to open a hotel in the grounds of his home.

Downing ' a founding member of the band ' told the Shropshire Star that he is currently talking to investors and hopes to get started on the building this year.

'I'm 60 years old now so I really want to get things completed. That's always been the endgame,' he told the paper.

'When it comes to the vision I know exactly what I want to do but once we develop the hotel and leisure side of things I'll need to bring in professionals to run the operation because it's impossible to do it on your own.'

He also said that he is planning on being 'a flagship sports and leisure facility to seriously put Bridgenorth and the surrounding areas on the map, not just nationally but internationally.'

The hotel will have 63 rooms, an indoor swimming pool, a spa and a 'top class' restaurant.

Downing helped found Judas Priest in 1969. Their riffy metal was at the time unheard of and they quickly became one of the most influential bands in the world. Their hits include Breakin' The Law and Living After Midnight, both off their sixth album British Steel.

The band's most recent album was the 2008 concept album Nostradamus.

Downing left Judas Priest mid-tour on April 20, 2011.

Retiring metal legends Judas Priest have announced a 17-CD, career-spanning box set.

As NWOBHM icons Judas Priest wind up their career, they've announced a forthcoming box set showcasing 17 studio and live albums from the classic Rob Halford, Glenn Tipton, K.K. Downing and Ian Hill line-up.

The box set will have remastered editions of their first two albums Rocka Rolla and Sad Wings Of Destiny as well as 1987's Priest.Live! and the 2009 live compilation A Touch Of Evil. Live.

Each album will be packaged in a replica mini-LP sleeve reproducing the original cover art, and the box set comes with a 40-page booklet with photos, credits, and liner notes by rock journalist and Priest superfan Greg Prato.

The Complete Albums Collection' box set will be available only through Popmarket.com , from January 24.

In December 2010 Judas Priest said they would retire the band after an extensive Farewell Epitaph World Tour.

It should wind up this year, and to cap off a four decade career they will also release their final album.
